Sona masoori is a medium grain rice, grown largely in the Indian states of Andra Pradesh and Karnataka. It is lightweight and aromatic, and contains less starch so is easily digestible.
It is ideal for preparing dishes like sweet pongal, biryani, idlis and fried rice.
For best results, wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes. To cook, add 1 to 1 1/2 times water to the quantity of rice.
